This week in class we had Jeff Hopkins come to speak about his school Pacific School of Innovation and Inquiry (PSII). We also talked about different forms that learning can take (online and in person).

I was interested to hear of everyone’s perspective on learning online during covid lockdowns. I was actually on a medical leave from my job as an EA just before covid and throughout the lockdown, so I have no idea what learning was like other than what I was told from my coworkers. I personally think that I would struggle with online learning as a student. I feel I really need the face to face connections made in class. I also struggle with procrastination and motivation from time to time, so being left to my own devices would be hard (not to mention the technology part of it!) As a teacher, I can see this being extremely difficult for myself too. I always relied on relationship and connections made in the classroom to do my job as an EA. Without that connection in person it would be really hard to motivate students (again, not even mentioning the technology part of it which still scares me). I am grateful for this class and all of the little tidbits and ways of incorporating technology into the classroom, I know that if there ever were a situation like lockdown again, everything we are learning in class will only benefit us and our future students.
