Baking has always been a creative outlet for myself. I love baking and decorating fancy desserts. I do it so much it is just expected that if you invite me to a dinner, party, or ANY occasion I will be bringing the dessert (I even did the cupcakes for a friends wedding.) It is something I have always loved to do and not only because I have a sweet tooth either. I love trying new recipes, combining different recipes to make my own, and learning new techniques. When I first went vegan 5 years ago, I was worried that my baking would suffer. It took a few trial and errors, some new techniques and ingredients but I found my way and my baking did not suffer for it. There is one avenue of baking that I have not explored vegan or not though and that is pastries. I have always wanted to dive into baking pastries but just never really got started with it. For my free inquiry project I have decided to tackle vegan pastries. I hope to start out easy with scones, puff pastry and pie shells before moving onto more difficult recipes. The final pastry I want to master is macarons (I’ve always dreamed of making macarons!) While I am looking forward to get back into backing just for the sake of it, I am going to be looking into how baking will affect my stress levels as I balance developing this new skill with school, work and my personal life.
